Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth is a concept for a website housing an archive of traditional desserts around the world. Users can browse desserts by region, type, and flavor to learn about their origin and history and how they’re made.

The visual design reflects the joy, warmth, and nostalgia associated with desserts through its use of rounded shapes and a warm color palette. The candy motif repeated throughout the website creates a playful appearance.

Problem & Solution

It can be difficult to navigate the overwhelming amount of information about global cuisines online, which is scattered and often hard to locate. By gathering all of this information in one place, this website makes it easier for dessert lovers to discover and learn about new dishes. The navigation system encourages flexible and organic exploration while providing options to search for specific categories and preferences.

Testing & Iteration

During the design process, I tested the website on users to receive feedback on the user experience. Based on these insights, I streamlined the content architecture by minimizing the number of levels of navigation and making it easier to navigate from one interior page to the next.

Design Concept

Friendliness and warmth are at the core of the site’s visual identity. I aimed to evoke a touch of nostalgia through the typeface choices and the color palette, which is reminiscent of Neapolitan ice cream. Rounded shapes make the design feel approachable, while microinteractions and playful touches like the candy motif bring a sense of delight to the user experience.
