Little Fires Everywhere Book Cover
This is a book cover design for the novel Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I crafted and photographed three-dimensional paper houses for the title typography, and used the shadows cast by the windows for the back cover. The design explores the themes of suburbia, facades, and secrecy found in the novel.
Process
I experimented with different perspectives and arrangements for photographing the paper houses, ultimately achieving a composition that created a dynamic sense of light and shadow.
I also iterated on the book jacket design with the goal of balancing the front and back covers and integrating the typography into the imagery.
Final Design
In the final design, the subtle light on the back cover echoes the front cover, and the diagonal composition draws the eye across the front. A warm yet eerie color palette of black, yellow, and purple ties the design together.
